By Niles Christensen
I found myself in a room,
The glow of a sun pouring through the windows.
A meal,
A warm bed and
A friend.
One day,
I spied a switch on a wall.
I ignored it at first,
But a voice named curiosity told me
To throw it.
I gave in to temptation
And flipped the switch.
A moment’s delay, then
The room transformed,
A fire burned my feet.
The scent of smoke filled my nose
And my ears were pierced by the screaming of a thousand souls.
The switch was gone.
